King Bromeliad

This dramatic plant has outstanding foliage with shiny bright green leaves with dark hieroglyph like markings. Best in a shady spot protected from hot afternoon sunshine. Produces a tall flower spike late in summer that is tall and branched, but with uninspiring cream and green flowers compared to the foliage.

'Lucky Stripes'

This variegated bromeliad is easily grown in part shade where the creamy foliage will brighten up the darkest corner. The leaves are edged with stripes of cream that varies from plant to plant. Some plants are so heavily striped as to appear almost white in colour. Attractive blue and pink flowers are produced over late summer and persist for some time.

A bonus in being able to withstand relatively cool nights and the occasional light frost.
