Tree Aloe (Syn. Aloe bainesii)

Possibly the most well known of the South African tree Aloes and ultimately the best looking! It will form a multiheaded, well branched tree of dark green, fleshy, deeply channeled leaves edged with strong, whitish teeth. In time, large stunning salmon orange flowers appear from mid-winter. Although slow growing, this plant deserves a place as a specimen tree and makes an excellent addition to coastal, arid and modern gardens. Ideal for planting in large decorative pots when young.

Aloe plicatilis

Fan Aloe

This distinctive South African Aloe forms a multi-headed, well branched shrub of dull blue-green, fleshy, round ended leaves. Leaves are arranged in a distinctive flattened fan shape, hence the common name for this Aloe. This Aloe makes an excellent addition to the patio when displayed in a large decorative pot. Large bright scarlet flowers appear from mid-winter once mature and are very attractive.

Echinocactus grusonii

Golden Barrel Cactus

What arid, desert style garden would be complete without the striking architectural golden barrel cactus? Best planted in a full sun position, in free draining soil, these iconic plants look great planted in groups amongst large rocks and boulders. Will tolerate light frost in the garden. Will add drama to any garden and grows well as a pot specimen also but allow plenty of room.

Haemanthus albiflos

White Blood Lily

An evergreen variety of the blood lily with white paintbrush styled flowers and attractive, wide green leaves. Many gardeners are familiar with the common red blood lily - a variety that dies down over summer. With the white blood lily remaining attractive all year, it makes a great pot specimen or garden plant in a partial sun position.
