Aloe thraskii
Dune Aloe
A distinctive smaller South African Aloe that forms a single stemmed trunk with broad, grey-green recurved fleshy leaves. Looks best mass planted and deserves to be more widely grown. Half-hardy, it requires dry and well drained soil preferring a full sun position and requires minimal watering. Branched racemes of stunning yellow-orange flowers appear from mid-winter through to spring on mature plants. An excellent addition to coastal, arid and modern gardens.

Aloe barberae
Tree Aloe (Syn. Aloe bainesii)
Possibly the most well known of the South African tree Aloes and ultimately the best looking! It will form a multiheaded, well branched tree of dark green, fleshy, deeply channeled leaves edged with strong, whitish teeth. In time, large stunning salmon orange flowers appear from mid-winter. Although slow growing, this plant deserves a place as a specimen tree and makes an excellent addition to coastal, arid and modern gardens. Ideal for planting in large decorative pots when young.

Aloe plicatilis
Fan Aloe
This distinctive South African Aloe forms a multi-headed, well branched shrub of dull blue-green, fleshy, round ended leaves. Leaves are arranged in a distinctive flattened fan shape, hence the common name for this Aloe. This Aloe makes an excellent addition to the patio when displayed in a large decorative pot. Large bright scarlet flowers appear from mid-winter once mature and are very attractive.
